LEARN

As a brand, we care deeply about the communities and environment our products will impact, starting from idea of a design to production, and eventually its life after it is worn (many years from now).

We are conscious about what we create and how. We hope the below information will 1) provide fuller clarity on why we have made particular decisions, as well as 2) inform and educate regarding sustainable fashion and materials.

Circular Economy

“Think globally, act locally”

Our manufacturing partners consist of a small team in Brooklyn, NY. We intentionally work with key partners such as suppliers and manufacturers that are on the East Coast of the United States to have a positive impact on our local economy to support living wages and promote economic growth within our partners’ communities. We’d LOVE to have fuller circular production and have our own sheep farm and wool mill. One day. ;)

Why Wool

We chose wool because it is a natural fiber and fabric. We chose melton wool due to its durability, natural warmth, and natural anti-microbial properties. This traditional fabric is perfect for outerwear as it is windproof and water-resistant. Some thought we were crazy to try to create a comfortable trouser out of this fabric, but our design process and user testing proved otherwise.

Care

To improve the longevity of your pants, we recommend washing them by hand in cold water with a very small amount of gentle laundry soap, then laying flat to dry. You can also dry clean with a company that has experience in handling melton wool.

We’ve included a wool comb with each pant order to make it easy for you to care for your melton wool pants. It’s not atypical for pilling to occur after a few initial wears. After gently combing your pants the first time, the pilling should become less frequent. If you have questions about this, please reach out to us at any time.

Why “Made-to-Order”

Made-to-order is a model that is successful in reducing waste by reducing the need for sitting inventory, allowing us to shift and adapt to feedback more quickly, and overall be a more lean company. Only once an order is made will we produce and ship and item.

This model also enables us to be more thoughtful about the products we create. We aren’t trying to just push and sell what we have sitting in inventory. This means a little longer of a wait to get your pants in the mail, but we appreciate your understanding and partnering with us to support a sustainable business model using natural fabrics that will last for years.

We see it as a win-win for our customers, environment, and our brand.

When you think about the process of making one piece of clothing, a shirt, pant, whatever, there is a lot that goes into it. There’s the main fabric, there is lining, buttons, zipper, labels, etc. Then there is the shipping of the materials to manufacturers and eventually to customers. Only making clothing items once they’re ordered is the opposite of fast fashion (which also often ends up quickly in landfills across the globe).

Conscious Packaging

Boxes - You’ll notice the boxes we use for packaging are simple and that is intentional. These boxes make it easier to compost (or burn in your fireplace) since they are not covered in ink.

100% Cotton Bags - All pant items come with a reusable 100% cotton bag for safe and clean travel of your pants.

Water-based ink - We intentionally purchased through a supplier that uses water-based ink on our cotton bags instead of the typical petroleum-based solvent used in other inks. This helps keep workers managing these materials safer as well as protecting waterways from harmful chemicals in the production process.

Returns / Exchanges

Although we make your pants once you order them, we understand the need to return or exchange items for a different size.

We accept returns of unused, unwashed items up to 30 days after you receive them. To initiate a return, please message us with your name and shipping address in our ‘Contact’ page.

Feedback

We love and appreciate feedback from our customers and community members! Please reach out to provide feedback at any time, about anything at all.
